Each year, the President of our Club choses a charity that he or she particularly wishes to support, often in addition to the many charities we always support during his or her year of office.  This year – until 30th June 2026 – Lion President Stephen Browne has chosen as his charity, “Legend on the Bench”.

This Charity aims to put suicide prevention benches in every park and open spaces throughout the UK. Every bench displays quick access to information at any time of the day or night for anyone experiencing mental health issues.  It is the intention to have at least one bench installed in the Tendring Area.

The 2026 Quiz Sheet was released to raise the bulk of the funds for our President’s Charity on 1st September.

On 22nd December the first of these benches was unveiled in the Rose Garden on the Top Promenade on Clacton’s seafront next to the Memorial Garden.  At a cost of £1,750 were hoping to raise enough funds to purchase another bench to be placed elsewhere within our area.
