Our Club has been recycling unwanted pairs of spectacles; hearing aids; printer ink cartridges and mobile phones. All items are put to good use to either raise funds or other charities or refurbished to be given to those in need in the Third World
We have distributed over 50,000 of these vital emergency kits mainly through local doctors, chemists and other charities. We also a Wallet sized version to be taken when you are away from home
This is our current President's charity for the year to benefit from the bulk of the proceeds of the Annual Quiz Sheet. We have already acquired our first of these benches which is situated in the Rose Garden along the top promenade adjacent to the Memorial Garden
On 28th January, we held our annual Presentation Evening during which we gave awards to the winners of our heat of the International Peace Poster Competition; thanked special organisations who had helped us with collecting pre-loved soft toys and we gave away a total of £3,475 including £500 to the Clacton School Uniform Bank; £525
The Charity, “Legend on the Bench”, aims to put suicide prevention benches in every park and open space throughout the UK. Santa is off to the ASDA Superstore at Bull Hill, Clacton on Sea at 10 am on Thursday 14th December until 4pm. He will also be there for the same time period on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Do come along and meet Santa.
